BIO

Samantha White is a flutist currently based in New York City. Throughout her career, she has performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Center, Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, and Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen in Nice, France. She has also taken the stage as a concerto soloist, performing works by Mozart, Vivaldi, and Ibert with various orchestras. She recently completed an orchestral residency with members of the Orchestra of the Americas, culminating with a sold-out concert at the Hill auditorium, featuring soloists Yo-Yo Ma and Kayhan Kalhor. Samantha has also worked with conductors Leonard Slatkin, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Bernard Labadie, and Rob Kapilow while being featured in his NPR segment, "What Makes it Great".

In addition to classical music, Samantha performed in the Off-Broadway production “House of the Telescopes", and is a current residency at the Unruly artist collective. Her musicality has also been recognized in competitions, where she has won awards through the the National Society of Arts and Letters, The “President’s Own” Marine Band concerto competition, the Arlington Philharmonic Young Artist competition, and the Krannert Art Center’s Concerto Competition.

Alongside performance, Samantha is also an active educator and advocate within the industry. She is currently the Education Manager with the Little Orchestra Society, where she is the primary contact for the Musical Connections school partnership program. This program brings music composition classes and performances across underfunded schools and housing projects throughout NYC. Samantha works alongside wonderful teaching artists to build unique curriculums and chamber music experiences, overseeing residencies across 12 locations in New York, serving 800-900 students each semester. She also maintains a private flute studio, and previously was a tutor for piano, clarinet, violin and flute at the Tian Song School of Musical Arts.

Samantha began her studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was guided by Jonathan Keeble and earned the Presidential Scholarship. She furthered her education at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Marya Martin while completing her Master of Music degree. Other primary instructors include Leone Buyse and Hideko Amano.
